The Journalism and Women Symposium, or JAWS, is offering a special discounted membership to members of LION Publishers.
JAWS is a national networking, training and leadership development organization for women in journalism. It runs an annual "camp," a vibrant national listserv and regional chapters.
Approximately one-third of LION publishers are women, and many of the other LION sites have women in key leadership positions.
JAWS is offering them first-year membership for $35, and membership includes a discounted rate for its annual conference. The rate goes up to the usual $75 after the first year. To take advantage, click here, and after creating a username, click on the dropdown options for "Exchange and Event Membership (New Members Only) – $35.
According to its mission statement, "JAWS supports the professional empowerment and personal growth of women in journalism and works toward a more accurate portrayal of the whole society."
Founded in 1985, its members include "more than 750 writers, editors, photographers, web producers, radio reporters, multimedia journalists, videographers and journalism professors."
