Big news: LION’s Media Liability program expands to all US states
All 50 states available now, with Washington, D.C. coming October 1.
The Media Liability Insurance program available to LION Publishers members has gone national, with all 50 states available for application as of today, and Washington, D.C. available starting October 1.
LION has worked with an insurance industry consultant, and established a preferred relationship with US-licensed insurance broker InSource Insurance Group. After a launch that included 13 states, we’re pleased to announce the program’s growth:
LION members in Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia and Wisconsin interested in obtaining a quote for Media Liability insurance can submit an application to Insource here; those in Alaska, Montana, Louisiana, North Dakota, Delaware, Wyoming and Vermont can submit their application to InSource here.
The District of Columbia will be available starting October 1. Unfortunately, the Media Liability program cannot extend to our members in Puerto Rico or Canada, because of the limitations of the insurer.
In conjunction with a specialist wholesaler (Socius Insurance Services, Inc.), InSource will work to provide a quote for Media Liability insurance from an AM Best-rated insurance company within two weeks of receiving the application. Given their experience providing media liability insurance, both InSource and Socius will work to make the application process as simple as possible in order to procure a quote for insurance with comprehensive coverage at a competitive rate.
You may email your application to [email protected] or mail your application to:

In the meantime, LION members can reach out to [email protected] if you have other issues Lawyers for Reporters might address, including reincorporation or other business questions.
