Andrew Rockway joins LION Publishers as our first full-time program manager
Andrew most recently worked at the American Press Institute, where he managed the Trusted Elections Network.
Whether you’re building a news business from scratch, trying to earn your first revenue, or closing in on sustainability, LION Publishers has a program to help – and now we have a program manager to boot.
We’re thrilled to welcome Andrew Rockway to our team as LION’s first full-time program manager, a role in which he’ll help implement programming to support LION members as they build and grow thriving news businesses. His work will include supporting:
- The LION-Meta Revenue Growth Fellowship
- The first Canadian cohort of the Google News Initiative Startups Boot Camp
- An expanded round of Sustainability Audits to help LION members assess their operational resilience, financial health and journalistic impact
- An online learning system with training and resources for growing a news business that we’ll launch soon
Andrew most recently worked at the American Press Institute, where he managed the Trusted Elections Network, a cohort of more than 200 journalists and experts sharing ideas to improve 2020 election coverage.
He also launched the Local News Ideas-to-Action initiative to provide training and project funds for local accountability reporting focused on audience and community information needs.
Prior to the American Press Institute, Andrew served as Program Director for the Center for New Democratic Processes (formerly the Jefferson Center), where he helped create Your Voice Ohio, then the largest statewide media collaborative, with more than 40 newsrooms coordinating coverage and community engagement around addiction, economic development, and elections.
Andrew is based on his small family farm in western Wisconsin.
We’re so excited to have Andrew’s help in making LION the destination for independent news entrepreneurs and news businesses. You can reach him at [email protected].
